The path to Currency Testing

This chapter is very straightforward.

When do you know you're done currency testing?

The answer is:

When your Currency Calculator says there is a clear path to Victory.

You have just gone through a process to validate the path you created on your Currency Calculator spreadsheet. If you validated enough of the steps on your Currency Ladder to ensure that you can reach your Victory Currency, then you are on a path to Victory!

Test as many or as few of the steps as you need to so that you are confident that you are on your way to your Victory.

If you are having trouble getting there, you've got several options to get back on the right path. To explore those options, let's take a look at where you've come from:

F: Finding Your Early Adopters

In the F stage, you started with Declaring your Victory and Idea Generation. From there you did some Customer Storming and you SCALE'd your customer segments. At your 5-Interview Checkpoint, you had a chance to look at the patterns of problems that had emerged from your customer interviews.

O: Offer Testing

Here you tested a variety of Offers. You analyzed your interviews, and then you experimented with various Offers.

Whenever you encounter a failure, you can return to any of these previous steps. When you do, you'll have additional information you didn't have the first time around, dramatically improving your likelihood of finding success the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time around.

C: Currency Testing

In this workbook, you learned how to run and optimize your currency experiments.

If your Offer tests were producing promising results but you weren't able to find a path to Victory via your currency tests, you can always roll back to your optimizing currency via A/B Testing or Solution Interviews.

You may also need to ask for a different type of currency, or a different amount of it. You have the tools to experiment with your currency acquisition until you've found the optimal way to achieve your victory.

This process is designed to help you take small steps forward and back, so you can get to your Victory faster. You can keep iterating on different steps, or role back to other Offers, or other channels.

Once you've validated you can acquire enough currency to achieve your Victory, you're ready to move on to Utility Testing.
